Emmett C. Schuster
President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Schuster joined Gibson General Hospital in 2007 as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Before coming to Gibson General, he served as interim CEO at Weiser Memorial Hospital in Weiser, Idaho. With more than 15 years experience in healthcare executive management, Mr. Schuster has led hospitals and nursing homes in Indiana, Idaho, Kansas, Wisconsin and Oklahoma.
In addition to his healthcare leadership experience, Mr. Schuster served 32 years in the U.S. Army, in active and reserve duty, retiring in 2009 as a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in entomology from Texas Tech University and a master’s in health services administration from the University of Kansas. Mr. Schuster is a CEO Circle Member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Tonya S. Heim, MHA, MSN, RN, CIC
Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer
Mrs. Heim came to Gibson General Hospital in 2004 as Assistant Administrator, Patient Care Services. She became Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer in 2007.
Prior to joining Gibson General, she spent 35 years with St. Joseph’s Hospital in Huntingburg, Ind., serving in various leadership capacities, including Corporate Compliance Officer/Director of Quality Services, Director of Infection Control, Director of Surgical Services and acting Director of Nursing.
Mrs. Heim holds bachelor’s degrees in organizational management from Oakland City University and nursing from the University of Southern Indiana (USI). She also holds master’s degrees in health administration and nursing from USI.
She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, American Organization of Nurse Executives and the Association of Practitioners in Infection Control and Epidemiology. In addition, Mrs. Heim is certified in infection control by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology.
Susan M. Havers
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Mrs. Havers joined Gibson General Hospital in 2009 as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
She joined Gibson General from Morgan Hospital and Medical Center (MHMC) in Martinsville, Ind., where she served as Vice President of Managed Care & Fiscal Services and CFO. Mrs. Havers has worked in healthcare for 19 years serving in various senior financial management positions in hospitals and healthcare organizations in Indiana, Virginia, Ohio and Vermont.
Mrs. Havers holds bachelor’s degree in accounting from Trinity College, Burlington, Vt., and a master’s in business administration from the University of New Hampshire. She is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
