Visitor Restrictions Updated

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and the critical importance of protecting patients and staff, below are current visitor guidelines and restrictions for inpatient and outpatient facilities. Gibson General, along with other regional hospitals, will follow state and national recommendations for lifting these restrictions. Thank you for your cooperation during these unprecedented times.

Gibson General to set up an ER triage tent

Gibson General will erect a triage tent outside its emergency department as part of the hospital’s ongoing efforts to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) within the community.

Gibson General offering drive-through testing for COVID-19

Beginning Thursday, March 26, Gibson General Hospital will offer drive-through coronavirus (COVID-19) testing for symptomatic patients who have an order for a test.

Gibson General Hospital implements Provider-by-Phone service

In an effort to further protect patients and staff from the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), Gibson General Hospital has implemented telehealth office visits in select provider offices.

In light of the rapidly-changing COVID-19 pandemic, and the critical importance of protecting patients and staff, we will be further restricting inpatient visitors.

Gibson General Providers Reducing Office Visits

In an effort to meet our goal of protecting patients and healthcare workers and limit the spread of potential coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in our community, Gibson General physician offices are reducing office visits.

New Visitor Restrictions as Part of COVID-19 Response

To keep our environment safe for patients, visitors and staff, Gibson General has implemented new visitor restrictions, effective immediately. The new restrictions are as follows:

GGH Suspends Elective Surgeries

Following Gov. Eric Holcomb’s announcement today for continued efforts to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Gibson General Hospital will temporarily halt all elective and non-urgent procedures and surgeries, beginning Wednesday, March 18 and tentatively resuming Monday, April 6. This time frame may be extended as new information and recommendations become available.

Gibson General implements new visitor restrictions beginning March 13

As part of Gibson General Hospital’s continued efforts to protect our patients, employees and community from potential exposure to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we are implementing new visitor restrictions. Beginning Friday, March 13, hospital visitation will be limited to those seeking health care and our patients’ immediate family members and caregivers. Exceptions will be made for extraordinary circumstances.

Health Foundation's Mardi Gras Jazz Gala canceled for March 14

As Gibson General Hospital implements measures to help protect the public and limit the spread of potential novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases here in our community, we have made the tough decision to cancel this weekend’s Mardi Gras Jazz Gala.

Gibson General to begin screening visitors

Following Governor Eric Holcomb’s announcement confirming the state's first case of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Marion County, Gibson General Hospital will screen ALL visitors and patients for communicable diseases, such as the flu and novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) beginning at noon on Monday, March 9.

Regional Hospitals Implement Visitation Restrictions Due to Flu

In response to the increase in influenza cases nationwide and in the Tri-State area, the hospital members of the Community Patient Safety Coalition are implementing unified hospital visitation restrictions effective Tuesday, December 31, 2019

GGH hosting Booster Seat Bash

Gibson General Hospital is hosting a Booster Seat Bash on Saturday, August 17 to raise awareness about car seat safety. The event will be in the hospital's parking lot from 9 AM to Noon.

Gibson General Hospital to exit long-term care

Gibson General Hospital, Inc. announced today that they will cease operation of its Long Term Care and Skilled Nursing Facility effective June 30, 2019.  The move comes after the completion of the most recent Community Health Needs Assessment and an in-depth market analysis confirming that long term care services are adequately available and is no longer a pressing community need.

GGH hosting free flu prevention seminar on Nov. 27

Gibson General Hospital is hosting a free community seminar titled “Flu Prevention: 101” on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 5:30 p.m. in the hospital’s Health & Education Room. A light dinner of soup, sandwiches and chips will be provided.

GGH starts diabetes support group

Gibson General’s Lifestyles Diabetes Program is starting a new support group for people who have diabetes and their family members and caregivers. The first meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. in the hospital’s Health & Education Room.

Gibson General Hospital today announced that Claudia Eisenmann joined the organization on September 24 as its new president and chief executive officer (CEO). She succeeds Mike Carney, who had been serving as interim CEO since May 2018.

GGH Physicians adopt new EHR system

Gibson General Hospital has launched a new electronic health record (EHR) system in its employed physician offices and clinics. The new EHR platform, powered by Epic Systems, was adopted to improve efficiency and care coordination among GGH primary care providers, regional specialists and their patients.

Gibson General Hospital is pleased to announce that it has partnered with ClaimAid, a leading provider of Medicaid, HIP 2.0, Supplemental Security Income and Health Insurance Marketplace services for hospitals, patients and their families.
